    January 27th, 2009Christopherkid riding toy

For many kids, a battery powered riding toy can be one of the best things you can give them. It can be a very treasured toy which they would use almost everyday. The reason behind this is that many kids love the sense of motion it provides and the great time they can have mimicking adults as they ride their own vehicles.

Also, riding toy allows them to develop their own sense of balance and coordination and make them feel more mature.

    January 10th, 2009Christopherchildren craft

When boredom looms and the weather’s hot, get everyone involved in summer crafts for kids.  Kids are always excited to be free from the school routine when they are let out for summer break, but it isn’t long until they start wondering what to do.  Summer crafts for kids will keep them occupied and maybe even teach them a thing or two.

In summer, crafts for kids can involve found objects, like seed pods, grasses, and similar objects.  Let kids create nature collection collages by gluing these items to a stiff piece of cardboard.   Help them spray paint some of the findings with silver or gold paint.  Alternatively, they might like to glue glitter to some of the findings.  Perhaps they would also enjoy collecting wild flower seed heads and creating dried flower arrangements.   Arrange the bouquet in a homemade vase.  Read the rest of this entry »

    December 28th, 2008ChristopherToy Game Hobby

Build family communication and togetherness by having a weekly toy game hobby night.  It is so easy these days to let work, school, and the business of life rule the day, that we can easily lose touch with each other.  If we get together one night each week for a toy game hobby night, we can rekindle those family ties.

Those families with small children will probably focus more on the toy aspect of the toy game hobby night.  Take the time to get down on the floor and play with those youngsters.  Cuddle those dollies and call yourself “grandma” or “grandpa.”  Push those trucks around and pretend right along with the kids.  If your back can take it, let them take turns riding you like a horse while you crawl around and neigh.  Every kid loves that! December 25th, 2008Christopherhealthy lifestyle

Studies show that 15% of people who are overweight are teens. This did not happen overnight because this started when these individuals were still children. The person to blame here are the parents because they allow their children to have the bad habit of over eating by not giving them the right nutrients such as fruits and vegetables and substituted this with junk food such as pizza and hamburgers.

    December 23rd, 2008Christopherautism

When dealing with autism, just as in most other disorders, you will be faced with a number of treatment options for yourself or your child. These include treatments that are educational, behavioral, biomedical, nutritional, and sensory. Unfortunately, for patients who are not affluent or who do not have good medical insurance, the cost of these treatments can be pricier than what they can afford.

One way to ensure that you or your child receives the best possible treatment for autism is to carefully monitor the effects a treatment has over time. By finding out which treatments work and which do not, you can stop paying for the ineffective methods and put more of your money into those which are creating a positive difference.

First, evaluate the abilities of the autistic individual before treatment begins. To do this, many services and organizations, including the Autism Research Institute, provide a checklist of evaluation points that focus on behavior and illnesses associated with autism. Autistic individuals tend to have increasing functionality as they mature, so remember that some of the positive effects in his or her life are simply due to the natural growth process. However, after two months fill out the checklist once again and compare it to the first. Are there any sharp positive increases in behavior characteristics? If so, this is more likely due to the treatment. Read the rest of this entry »
